IBM COGNOS 10 Active reports with security / password protected

With IBM COGNOS 10.2 active reports have really kicked off in a big way especially with the new set of visualizations.  I love the concept of downloading visualization and adding them to your IBM COGNOS 10 environment. I have noticed that IBM COGNOS keeps updating their visualization charts quite often and are easily available.

Most of the end users who love the concept of active reports have one question in common ---- security ? How do we add security to IBM COGNOS Active reports ? It is an important points that they bring up.

 Here are the steps for adding security on top of an active report.

When you are building a IBM COGNOS Active Report, open the report in Report Studio;

1. Select the File -> Active Report Properties option

2. Enter a password in the Access Code field.

When a user tries to open a report they will be asked to enter the access code before the report will open.

Super easy right, thank you IBM COGNOS !!
